Summer weather in Penicuik is always something of a hit or miss,
something to do with the Pentland Hills I'm told. Saturday 2nd
August was one of those days. When it was sunny it was hot, but it
kept changing to cloudy and showers, which were cold.
Undeterred the ladies put on a summer afternoon tea, with stalls
selling goodies and baking, but in the hall. The door to the garden
was open so everyone was free to take in the sunshine, on the odd
occasion it blessed us with its presence!
All the usual favourites were there, the Tombola, Bottle and Baking
Stalls, as well as a raffle with prizes for everyone. Tea, coffee
and a wide selection of cakes were on offer as part of the ticket
price as
well. What more could you ask for.
Well I trotted along with my bottle of wine for the Bottle Stall,
and inadvertently gave it to the Tombola stall. As they say "what a
mistake to make". After being chastised by Mary Paterson (no
relation) for my error I bought lucky dip tickets for her bottle
stall, in an attempt
to appease her wrath. Even that went wrong as I won the bottle of
whisky.
With my tea and cake plus my bottle of whisky,
oh and I won at the Tombola as well, it wasn't bad for an afternoons
tea.
See what you missed.
