Saturday morning on 15 December was very cold, frosty and chilly on
the outside, but inside St. Mungo's hall, things were really very
cosy.
The
Christmas coffee morning with stalls laden with goodies to buy and
to win at the various raffles and draws was quite a spectacle. You
had to be quick to snap up the bargains, ranging from Christmas
decorations and novelties to Fair Trade gifts from far flung third
world countries. The well loved bottle stall was very busy. Could it
have been something to do with not one, but two bottles of whisky to
be won?
The
home baking stall was also quick to sellout as the sight of freshly
baked cakes and buns was too much of a temptation for most who cast
their eyes upon it.
To recover from this cornucopia of
delights was a welcome cup of coffee or tea with a warm mincemeat
pie and shortbread, enjoyed with warm conversation with friends old
an new round the table.
But it
was not all over yet. The grand finalé was the prize draw to win the
Christmas Hamper, a basket full of goodies for the Christmas table.
A spread to bring cheer to anyone's face.
The
social committee, who organised the whole event, did a terrific job.
A big thank you to all who contributed
items for the stalls, gave their time to help set it all up, worked
behind the counters, and for those who came along and purchased a
few gifts and enjoyed themselves.
