The Church was filled with mums, dads, granny's and granpa's for the Nativity
play on Sunday 19th December.
The 4th Sunday of Advent and only days to go before the big day, the celebration
of the birth of Jesus.
This year we returned to a more conventional presentation with Mary, Joseph,
Wise Men (or in this case lady), Shepherd and Angel, not forgetting of course
the baby Jesus. The story was read by Agnes Ovenstone who also had the children
searching the church for clues of what would happen next. The story of course
ends with the birth of Jesus in that manger in a barn in Bethlehem. But it is
the start of a new testament in the Christian faith, the teachings of Jesus.
Ron then talked about all those less fortunate than most of us,
who have little or nothing to live on and how the various charities help these
people both near to home, and in far off lands. With the Sunday School children
he hung some of the posters on the tree, and the children handed out some out to
members of the congregation to hang on their's at home.
A selection of carols were included in the service and there will be more at the
watchnight service, starting at 11.15 on Friday 24th. There is also a service at
7.00pm at Aaron House nursing home to which all are welcome. |
