A resident of Bill's car for many a year he agreed to meet the children of
St.Mungo's and jump for the joy of the Lord. Bill thought Pengy had taken cold
feet as he disappeared from the car just when he was getting ready to drive over
for the service! A passer by offered to help as Bill searched the boot of the
car. "What are you looking for?" the passer by asked. "My one wing........" and
stopped mid sentence, lest the passer by think it a rather odd activity!
On opening the drawer in the vestry, who should be there but Pengy, ready to see
the Children.
We sang Chorus 96, if you want joy, real joy, then Chorus 240, The joy of the
Lord is my strength. The words of the Chorus say "if you want joy you must sing
for it", which the children did, "if you want joy you must shout for it" which
they did also, "if you want joy you must jump for it" but Pengy was reluctant to
do so.
Encouragement from the children and a few words from Bill, and Pengy was jumping
from Bill's hand in joy, to the amazement and joy of everyone in the
congregation.
We all get joy from the Lord, giving us strength in our daily lives.
