Robyn Plays her violin to the congregation

The "cake" for Ron

Farewell to Ron

Sunday 30th of September 2007 signalled the Rev. Ron Smiths final service to the congregation of St. Mungo's. The service, which included nine year old Robyn from the Sunday School playing her violin and a presentation to Ron from the Sunday School. The service drew a large number of members and visitors to wish Ron a warm farewell.

The service focussed on the need for all Gods' people to be ministers of the Church, helping others to see the light of eternal love and life as taught by his son Jesus.

Following a short communion after the service we all gathered in the Hall where some 90 members surprised Ron with a special buffet meal before presentations.

Ron was presented with three gifts, a new microwave to replace the one that had recently blown up, and a bible. The gifts providing hot food for the body, the other food for the mind. The third gift was a cheque for £650 from a members collection.

In addition Ron showed his Sunday School present, a picture of St. Mungo's, to remind him of the support and happiness he brought to many people in Penicuik.

The congregation wish him well in his new charge at St. James in Falkirk.
