The sun may have shone on the Queen in Edinburgh as she opened
the Parliament, but the clouds
rolled in for our band of walkers as we reached the start at Westloch. A gentle rise up to Portmore Loch which had a fair
share of fisherman on the banks and in boats, ever hopeful of a
tasty catch for tea.
Crossing the burn beyond the loch started us on our climb to
the foot of Dundriech hill. The sprightly walkers in our midst
stepped out with little problem, but the muddy path slowed some
of us down.
A fine view down the Peebles valley greeted us as we reached
the ridge and started a slow descent round the Milky Law, toward the farm at Boreland. Here
we were met by the farmers dogs, no doubt trying to play
with Rowan, Alison Howie's dog. One was in the hay loft as you
can see.
Pressing on down the hill to Eddleston and a stop for lunch,
before making the return journey. The weather was closing in and
a fine Scottish "mizzle" drifted across as we climbed back
around the Milky Way. Dundriech was aptly named but soon the
skies cleared, and Portmore Loch still had plenty of fisherman
trying to catch their tea!
Refreshments at the Leadburn Inn after the 7 mile round trip completed a great day out
for the walkers. Sponsors dig deep as all 20 of our walkers
completed the walk.

we have swelled the Church funds.
