Sacred Heart / St Mungo’s team win Smart Alec

Getting brains into gear for the Quiz Night questions.

Our interchurch quiz took place on Friday 24th May.

Six teams named Over the Bridge, Formidable Four, Los Amigos, Nae Grey Matter, The Fullers and The Guilders took part in nine rounds of questions covering General Knowledge, History, Literature, the Bible, Food and Drink, Film and TV, Sport, Geography and Scotland.

Gordon MacDonald and Agnes Ovenstone shared the positions of question master and scorer. Sitting listening to the teams when the answers were announced caused a great deal of hilarity.

You could hear "Oh No" and "I told you so". We even had some heckling!  Halfway through we stopped for refreshments.

The Guilders
The winning team were Los Amigos which were a mixed team consisting of four members of St Mungo's ( Rev John Urquhart, Margaret Black, Joan and Neil Cape) and two from the Sacred Heart (Ann McAvoy and Paddy Reid). They won by half a point from The Fullers.

Winning Team '- Los Amigos - (L to R) Joan Cape, Rev John Urquhart, Paddy Reid, Ann McAvoy, Neil Cape and Margaret Black

Agnes presented the teddy trophy  ' Smart Alec' to Paddy Reid from Sacred Heart, and they will keep it first and then pass it to the St Mungo's winners.

It was a night filled with fun and laughter and was very well attended.

Looking forward to next year!

Everyone agreed it had been a really good night
